BAFOPAZ was founded in 2006 by Mr. Victor Hugo Salinas and Ms. Ana Ariscuringa Gil, both of whom are committed to the research, teaching, and promotion of traditional Bolivian dance. The members are composed of members of different age groups. The group has received different recognition and awards at home and abroad for their avid promotion of Bolivian culture. Since its establishment, it has produced more than 80 choreographic works.
In addition to performing in major cities in Bolivia, the troupe has also toured countries in Latin America such as Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Mexico, countries in Europe such as Spain, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, Germany, as well as the United States and other countries to participate in art festivals; so far, it has toured more than 38 times overseas.
The music and dance performed by the troupe feature different landscapes such as the high mountains of Bolivia (Andes), the Amazon rainforest, and the plains of Moxas and Chaco, as well as characteristics of multiracial integration because the country is home to indigenous peoples like Quechua, Aymara, and Moxeño and also the "Mestizo" (people of mixed European and indigenous non-European ancestry).
